Weapon sets, why not skill sets?
We have pre-configured weapon sets for the most part, that you can switch out in battle.
Now, I'm by no means suggesting we switch out skills in battle.
But what about in town? Woudln't it be nice to be able to switch from say, a Shutdown Mesmer to a more offensive mesmer type (energy surge, wastrels, empathy, conjure, stuff like that) with the stroke of a key instead of several scrolls and mouse drags?

Yeah, I was surprised you weren't able to do this from the get-go. Definitely needs to be put in.

you should be able to change your attribute points along with it. if you're switching from an Earth build to an Air build, you're going to need to switch your attributes too... no use doing it manually...

Aight, chalk that up there too then.
Sounds as logical as skill swapping.

I was going to suggest what Weezer said too, and, in a similar vein, I personally feel refund points should be scrapped altogether. I understand they're supposed to serve some sort of purpose, but in the end, they're just an unnecessary annoyance. The only real reason I can think of them existing in the first place is so people don't take in a bunch of different types of skills in PvP and constantly despec/respec in accordance to what they want to use... but really, I think it would make more sense to just disable changing attribute points entirely in PvP instead.

I don't see many people switching attributes in the middle of a match. It takes too much time, plus you will be carrying a low number of skills that won't compliment each other. Its better to take you chances with a full bar of complimenting skills. But anyways, I like the preset skill bars idea, but taking out refund points will mess things up.

I agree... he wasn't talking about in the middle of a match. He meant have hotkeys for skill presets when you're in town. So when you change up your skills you don't need to
1- hunt for the skills and put them all in the bar
2- rearrange and (try to) remember your preferred configuration, what skill goes where
3- um... number 3 is empty so there wasn't really a good reason to make a list... "and" probably could have sufficed...

'and' is never enough.
I would much prefer a 3 over an overly used, over hyped, and bloated by the media 'and'.
3 can be to save time so you can go right back in if you lost.
Or something.
Anyways, this really should be an option. It in no way could unbalance the game, just make a tedious chore less tedious.

Would you mind explaining how it'll mess things up? I honestly can't see a good reason for them. Or at least, I can't see why they used an annoying method of doing something rather than a less annoying one. When I'm experimenting with builds, which is often, I just end up constantly going "oh, hey, out of refunds, time to wander around for half an hour to regen them"... but what's the purpose of that?
And yeah, obviously changing attribute points around constantly in a match is impractical, I'm just saying if you got rid of refund points it could be done, which I'm assuming isn't something that's intended for. Disabling switching them around entirely in a match just seems like a less annoying way of achieving that in my mind.
DrSLUGFly: Yeah, I know that, I wasn't talking about changing skills in the middle of a match.
I'm probably coming off as kind of an asshole here, maybe refund points serve a really useful purpose that I can't think of, but I just hate them so much.

I like the idea of, say, maybe 4 skill bars? Just like weapon sets? You can keep 4 skill-bar sets pre-made. I vote for that.
The refund points serve the purpose of not letting you immediately switch from Air Magic to Fire Magic to Earth Magic (ad nauseum). They were put in (I believe) to allow for some changes over time to your character if you decide later to switch.
But I don't think they were ever meant to be used as some kind of on-off switch of "I'm earth magic! Nope, now I'm fire magic! Nope, this match I'm water magic! Ta-da!"
I understand your dislike for them, but at the same time I think they're a good thing.

This is a great idea that I don't think will hurt any aspect of the game, only improve it.
As for the discussion on switching attribute points... that's a little handwavey there... I don't think they're meant to be switched so often and fast.

If you can just delete a PvP char and remake it with different attributes, I don't see the harm in allowing PvE characters to do effectively the same thing by removing refund points and locking the reallocation features when you're not in town.
Several months back, before I dropped off the face of the earth until May, I had been agitating about this same thing back at the Guild Hall forums. Refund points need to go.
Oh, and as for skill presets, I'm all for it just like I always have been.

I agree with this because I have to use differnt skills for when I am farming for exp (aoe fire w/ earth defense), helping lower lvl guild mates (earth offense/defense, non adrenline hammer attacks), my going through underworld/fissure (earth defense again heh, adrenline combo skills) and some more things. It is really annoying having to hunt through all my skills sence I am only missing around 15 skills out of 150.

I don't really mind searching for skills in my list or using the skill template because I like know all of the skills for Guild Wars... but that's just me. But I do have a sense of appeal for this.
